These new ES (Evolution Series) are built by GE Transportation Systems and designed to meet the new U.S. EPA's Tier 2 locomotive emissions standards that took effect in 2005.

Equipped with AC Traction Motors

Powered by the new GE GEVO engine.

These new fuel efficient locos have replaced the AC4400CW locos in the GE line-up.

These UP and CP ES (Evolution Series) are built by GE Transportation Systems and designed to meet the U.S. EPA's Tier 2 locomotive emissions standards that took effect in 2005. To promote these new locomotives and the newer, “greener”, engines, GE advertised their new eco-friendlier locomotives with a series of demonstrator units, painted in a distinctive blue and green and emblazoned with the GE Logo on the nose and sides. Many of these locomotives are retained by GEâ€™s locomotive division and see continued use as promotional locomotives.
