The
F7 was introduced by General Motors in the early 1950's
and for many years was the mainstay of many roads. It was
the huge success of these locos that dealt the final blow
to the steam era. And though designed for freight service,
many F7's were successfully used in passenger service as
well--the most famous of these was the Santa Fe.
