Zephyr in N Scale! |

| Re-live
the Excitement of the Pioneer Zephyr in N Scale
Making its debut
in 1934, the "Pioneer Zephyr" was
much more than "just a train", it made "streamlining" a
household word. Aside from its record-breaking speed run
from Denver
to
Chicago,
its
radical
design and
brilliant stainless steel finish caught the attention of
the traveling public, offering a glimpse of the future
of passenger rail service.
Con-Cor's model
brings all of the excitement of the prototype to N Scale.
This
limited-run model re-creates the original three-car train
and features
a powered lead car with DCC ready drive, interior, working
lights, diaphragms and many other fine details. A must
addition to your N scale passenger fleet. Quantities are

Twin Headlight Pioneer Zephyr Sets |
After several
accidents, the Pioneer Zephyr was modified in the 1940's
to add a double "Twin Headlight" assembly
above the nose, and the rear observation car.
The
second headlight on the nose was an early version
of the "Mars" light. A bright
oscillating light enabled motorists to see the approaching
train from a greater distance.
Our
version of the "Twin Headlight" Zephyr
will use a flashing LED that will operate in both
DC and DCC mode to simulate this safety feature.
The Pioneer Zephyr retained this "twin headlight" until
its final run on March 20th, 1960.
The set comes
with a working Mars light that will function out
of the box in "DC" mode, and can be activated
in "DCC" mode with a "DCC" decoder
that has the connections available to activate the "P3" function.
Zephyrs come with the standard NMRA "Medium" Decoder
Socket set that will accept any decoder that has the
10 pin wiring harness.
The
Set will come with an Instruction Sheet showing
how you can install a Decoder,
and how to activate the working "Mars lightfunction" in "DCC" mode.
By this
time the Original Pioneer Zephyr had many additional
sisters in service on the Burlington
system, and the tail end observation car had the
name "Pioneer Zephyr" name applied onto
it. Our "Twin Headlight" Zephyr will also
have this name applied to the rear of the Train.

The
Pioneer Zephyr proved immensely popular with the public,
and the Burlington immediately ordered an additional coach
car built for the Zephyr. The first add on car was #500
which ran only for a short time and was later destroyed
in an accident in Texas.
The 2nd 4th Car was number 525 (the prototype for Con-Cor's
model) was built in June of 1938 and was a buffet-coach car,
with passenger seating for an additional 40 passengers as
well as a small kitchen and pantry area.
This
car ran for many years with the Pioneer Zephyr consist and
is the one usually found in photos of the Zephyr in
later years.
