The
Sardine/Coastal freight carrier is a well built vessel.
Vessel lengths up to sixty feet with thirteen foot beams
were common in the early 1900s. Booms and eventually even
masts disappeared and deck houses sprouted. The 1950s marked
the heyday of the sardine industry and boats of eighty feet
long with seventeen foot beams were common.
